A Special Summer Show!

Old Town Playhouse is thrilled to announce its upcoming summer production, DreamWorks The Prince of Egypt, which will bring together the vibrant talents of the community and celebrate the power of collaboration. This special production, set to run for one weekend only in August, promises to be a spectacular event that highlights the creative spirit and community partnerships in the greater Traverse City area.

As part of its commitment to fostering strong community ties, Old Town Playhouse aspires to partner with several local organizations, businesses and community groups to create a unique, collaborative theater experience. These partnerships will not only enrich the production, but also engage audiences in new and exciting ways. The summer show will feature local performers, musicians, singers, artists and technical crews, bringing this production to life.

A Night for the Whole Family!
The Prince of Egypt is an exciting and family-friendly piece that promises to delight audiences of all ages. The musical is based on the beloved, Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. Journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as Ramses and Moses, two young men raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever. The Prince of Egypt is a sweeping epic of a musical with music and lyrics by Grammy and Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Philip LaZebnik, and 10 new songs written by Schwartz, together with five of his songs from the DreamWorks Animation film. The show also features Schwartz’s Academy Award-winning song, “When You Believe.”
