Old Town Playhouse, Inc. (“OTP”, “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Michigan based non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that provides community theatre experiences to the people of Northwest Michigan. We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our customers, donors, performers, volunteers, students, and community members.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, safeguard, and share personal information in compliance with applicable Michigan and federal laws, including Michigan charitable solicitation and data protection requirements.

Information We Collect

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you:

  • Purchase tickets or merchandise
  • Make a donation
  • Register for auditions, classes, or workshops
  • Participate in a production or project
  • Subscribe to emails or newsletters
  • Contact us in person, via phone, or through our website or social media

  • Transaction details for tickets, donations, or tuition payments
  • Audition and participation information (e.g., resumes, biographies, headshots, forms)

You can choose not to provide us with some or all this information. However, some specific information is required to take advantage of some ways of interacting with OTP (for example, you must provide an email address to purchase tickets online; you must fill out a Participant Agreement form to volunteer; etc.).

When you visit our website, we may collect limited technical data such as:

  • Pages visited
  • Date and time of access

This data helps us maintain website security and usability and does not identify you personally unless combined with other data.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information only for internal OTP purposes, including:

  • Processing ticket sales, registrations, and donations

  • Communicating about performances, auditions, events, and programs
  • Administering auditions, casting, educational programs, and volunteers

OTP does not sell, trade, or rent personal information.

Donor Privacy and Rights

Consistent with Michigan charitable solicitation expectations and FTC enforcement standards, donor information is treated as confidential.

  • Donor names and contact information are used solely for internal purposes
  • Donation amounts are not publicly disclosed without consent (except as required by law)
  • We do not share donor lists with third parties

In addition, donors can expect the following from OTP.

  • Donations are used solely for the purpose specified by the donor (if any)
  • Donors will receive acknowledgement and communication regarding their donation

Payments and Third Party Services

Payments for tickets, registrations, and donations are processed using reputable third party vendors (including OTP’s ticketing platform and payment processors). We do not store full credit card or banking information.

Third party services are responsible for their own privacy and security practices.

Data Security and Breach Notification

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information.

In the event of a data breach involving personal information, we will comply with the Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act, including timely notification to affected individuals as required by law.

Photos, Video, and Recordings

Photographs and video recordings may be taken at rehearsals, performances, classes, or public events for promotional and archival use.

By attending these events, you acknowledge that your image or likeness may be used unless you notify us in advance.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. Youth programs and classes may require additional consent or information forms.

Your Michigan Privacy Rights

You may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request corrections or updates to your personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information where legally permissible

Requests for changes to personal information may be submitted to the Box Office via phone, postal mail, email, or in person (see Contact Information below). We will respond in a reasonable timeframe, consistent with applicable law.

Compliance With Michigan Law

This policy is intended to align with:

  • Michigan Nonprofit Corporation Act (Act 162 of 1982)
  • Michigan Charitable Organizations and Solicitations Act (Act 169 of 1975)
  • Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted on our website with a revised effective date.
