Old Town Playhouse Young Company

COVID-19 Safety Procedures

As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, Old Town Playhouse Young Company is proud to continue providing quality theatre education to our students and families. Taking into consideration the safety of our students and staff, we have instituted new procedures for our educational programs and ask for your cooperation.

Students not feeling well during class will be separated from the group and sent home. OTP has strict cleaning protocols, including cleaning high touch points such as door handles and light switches, and sanitizing the auditorium between uses. Our procedures continue to evolve as we learn more from health officials. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any class or convert classes to a virtual format if circumstances require.

OTPYC COVID Safety Procedures

  • Masks are recommended, but not required, to be worn by students, parents, and staff throughout drop-off, pick-up, and for the duration of class.
  • Parents will drop-off and pick-up by the Stagedoor on the southwest corner of the building. OTPYC staff will facilitate student entry and exit from the building.
  • Hand sanitizer, extra masks, and gloves will be available in easily visible places.
  • Restrooms and class space will be sanitized before and after each class.
  • Drinking fountains will not be available. Students must bring their own water bottles and no food/drink will be shared.
  • Each student’s personal items will be kept in their own separate area and will not touch others.
  • Students should leave promptly at the end of the class. There will be no congregating or socializing.
  • Students who are not feeling well (or who have a family member who is unwell) are asked to stay home.

OTPYC COVID Reporting Procedures

  • Students who are sick or who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must stay home and are encouraged to get tested before returning to class. You are considered to have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive if you have been within 6 ft of them for more than 15 minutes
  • If your student tests positive for COVID-19, you should contact the Program Manager, Melissa May at 231-947-2210 ext. 103.
  • Immediately upon learning that a student has tested positive, OTPYC staff will contact the Grand Traverse County Health Department and work with them to identify potential close contacts. All parents will be notified immediately by OTPYC staff.
  • Close contacts will be notified by the health department and will be instructed on length of quarantine.
  • Students may return to class upon completion of the health department quarantine period.
