Basic Classes

STORYBOOKS TO LIFE (code BC1) - Kat Brown

For ages 5 to 7 years.   This exciting class takes make-believe to the next level! Lessons focus on the child’s innate desire to pretend and cultivates them into true acting skills. Communication skills are also enhanced with the use of dramatic play, movement and music. Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm, Oct 4 to Nov 8.  Tuition: $95

INTRO TO ACTING & THEATRE (code BC2) - Denni Don Hunting                                                

For ages 7 to 9 years.  This beginning class will focus on stage vocabulary, movement, scene work, character study, vocal work and improvisation.  Theatre games will be       used to teach and reinforce lessons.  There will be a short presentation at the end of the course.  Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm, Oct 4 to  Nov 8.  Tuition: $95

LET’S CREATE (code BC3) - Kat Brown                                                          

For ages 7 to 9 years.  This new class will use the games, forms and tools currently taught in Interplay training!  A fun and dynamic class for students of all levels of experience. It's all about spontaneous, in the moment creating through sounds, movement, storytelling, stillness and contact.  There will be a short presentation at the end of the course.  Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm, Oct 4 to Nov 8.  Tuition: $95

Broadway Junior Classes

NOTE: The following classes can be used to fulfill the prerequisites for the spring musical. Students who want to enroll but not audition for the musical are welcome.

SINGING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE (code BW1) - Matt Archibald

For ages 8 to 12. This course is designed for students who wish to develop a basic knowledge of singing.  We focus on the acting aspect of song preparation, including presentation and general vocal coaching.  This class is part of the Broadway Junior program and can be used to fulfill the singing prerequisite for the spring musical.  Tuesdays 4:30-6:00, Oct 3 to Nov 7.  Tuition: $125

ACT UP, ACT BIG (code BW2) - Denni Don Hunting

For ages 9-13.  Larer-than-life characters are par for the course in musical theatre!  Training for this class includes how to have a strong stage presence and how to be loud without injuring your voice.  Comic timing and improvisation are also covered.  This class is part of the Broadway Junior program and fulfills the acting prerequisite for the spring musical.  Mondays 4:30 to 6:00, Oct 2 to Nov 6.  Tuition: $125

INTRO TO MUSICAL THEATRE (code BW3) - Melissa May

For ages 9 to 13. This class will work on the staging and choreography for a “set piece” from musical theatre.  The material will be selected from a popular Broadway show with minimal costumes and scenic items.  There will be a staged presentation on the final class day.  This class is part of the Broadway Junior program and can be used to fulfill the dance prerequisite for the spring musical  Saturdays 11:00-12:30, Oct 7 to Nov 11.        Tuition: $125

VOICE ACTING (code BW4) - Harold Kranick    

For Ages 12 and up.  An exciting way to discover if Voice Acting is for you! Taught by local performer and Specs Howard School of Media Arts graduate Harold Kranick. This new class will teach students the importance of proper voice techniques by expanding their vocal range while writing, reading and performing radio ads and curtain warmers. This class provides exciting and challenging work for students 12 and up who are eager to make their voice heard!   Fridays 4:30-5:30, Oct 6 to Nov 10. Tuition: $95

TECHNICAL THEATRE CLASSES                        

For the student interested in the backstage area of theatre, the OTP Young Company offers classes in Lighting & Sound (TC1) or Costumes & Make-up (TC2)  These classes are offered in conjunction with the production of Robin Hood.  Each technical class will make up the running crew for the November production.  Interested students are asked to attend the audition Sept. 11th or 12th and register for their crew area.  Adult staff members will teach each crew with class meetings one day per week beginning the week of September 25th.  Tuition: $95

Mychelle holds her Master’s Degree from the prestigious Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar. She has received critical acclaim as a Director and Actress both regionally and internationally.
