Noises Off

AUDITIONS

NOISES OFF
by Michael Frayn

directed by Steve Morse

Auditions: March 8 & 9 at 7 pm,
Callbacks if needed: March 10
in the Mary Schmuckal Downstairs Theatre

Performances: May 7, 8, 13, 14, 15,
16, 20, 21, 22

Participants are asked to arrive before 7pm if at all possible, as the director wishes to start with a group exercise.

Come join us to try out for one of the 9 available parts:
4 women (playing age ranges from 20's to 50's)
5 men (playing age ranges from 20’s to 70's)
(For detailed character descriptions, go to www.oldtownplayhouse.com.)

As the curtain comes down on the 50th OTP season, Noises Off, one of the funniest plays ever written, will be sure to please and delight! A fast-paced, modern-day farce, this play-within-a- play peeks in on a traveling stage show preparing for its New York run. Act One displays the final dress rehearsal of Nothing On. In Act Two, the audience witnesses the play from the revealing standpoint of backstage. The third act is an actual performance of Nothing On. The characters’ entanglements divulge secrets, assignations, skullduggery, impersonations, and burglary. If that isn’t enough, wanna-be actress Vicki runs around in her Italian lace camisole and tap pants for the entire show, while Frederick tries to keep his pants from falling down.

NOISES OFF AUDITION WORKSOP

COME ONE COME ALL

Saturday, March 6th at 3:00 pm
The OTP will hold an audition workshop for Noises Off.

The final audition workshop in our series will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 3:00 at the Old Town Playhouse.  Guest Director Phil Murphy and facilitator Mychelle Hopkins will take participants through the paces of auditioning for a farce.  Feedback will be given to each individual and information about the play, its genre and history will be made available during the workshop session.  Registration is not required, everyone is welcome.

This is a great way to build your chops for the auditions the following Monday and Tuesday. No one directly involved in the production is involved in the workshop, so you may have the freedom to experiment and prepare without the pressure of the actual audition. For anyone NEW to the Playhouse, it's a great way to introduce yourselves to us and for us to show you how things work, and to put you at ease. We want to help you be at your best, and comfortable with the process.

GALA 2010 AUDITIONS

2010 Old Town Playhouse Black and White Gala

We are seeking strong male and female vocalists with strong dance/movement ability for the 2010 Black and White Gala cast.

The Black and White Gala is a “black tie affair” held at the City Opera House, and the single largest fundraiser event benefiting the Old Town Playhouse. The gala show is a musical revue of Broadway and OTP shows, both current and past. Cast members need to be self-motivated and prepared to learn a significant amount of material in a short rehearsal period, requiring a strong work ethic, dedication and independent work outside of rehearsals.

The rehearsal schedule is light, consisting typically of 2 nights per week (Mondays and Wednesdays) through May, and four nights per week (Monday-Thursday in June). There is potential for one or two Sunday rehearsals as needed in June.

Auditions are March 7th at 3:00pm in the Multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Old Town Playhouse. Please come with a prepared 16-bar audition song (bring sheet music - an accompanist will be provided) and be dressed to learn a short dance combination.

The Black and White Gala performance is on June 19, 2010, and may perform an encore performance at the Cherry Festival on July 9th.
