Who We Are

The MISSION of the Old Town Playhouse is to be a volunteer-based organization promoting quality community theatre experiences for the people of Northwest Michigan by providing educational opportunities and entertainment in the theatrical arts.

Old Town Playhouse was created in April 1960 to bring amateur theatre to northern Michigan.

Located just three blocks from downtown Traverse City, Old Town Playhouse performance areas include a 277-seat mainstage auditorium and an 80-seat studio theatre. Performances are also held at other regional venues. Seasonal attendance ranges from 18,000 - 20,000 patrons.

The community theatre arm of Old Town Playhouse is volunteer-based, providing quality theatre experiences in multiple facets, including our MainStage, Studio Theatre, Staged Readings, and Senior Readers Theatre through our Aged to Perfection program. These performances run generally September through May.

The youth education arm of Old Town Playhouse, the OTP Young Company, provides performance and educational activities for youth aged preschool through college. Young Company programs run year-round.

OTP Members provide financial support and elect some Trustees and the Artistic Committee.
