Take It From The Top

TAKE IT FROM THE TOP is a series of interactive workshops taught by working Broadway professionals who have a passion for providing training and perspective for those interested in pursuing a professional career in musical theatre as well as those just looking to have fun with performing arts.

Participants learn the craft of musical theatre with basic to advanced skills, industry history and practical content in an exciting, fast-moving, interactive setting.

Everyone is a student of the arts and can find their own unique voice through music, dance, and theatre. TAKE IT FROM THE TOP offers participants a chance to experience Broadway with the pros. Learn, work and sharpen your skills in a creative and fun environment. If you ever wanted to be on a Broadway stage, now is your chance to perform and pick the brains of the people who are doing it!

This year we offer this fantastic workshop at the Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City, Michigan from August 4 - 6. (In collaboration with MSU's Wharton Center Education Programs)

MUSIC / DANCE / THEATRE WORKSHOPS - Three-Day Workshop
During this multi-day workshop, participants will explore dancing, singing and acting with an eye towards a final recital.

Pre-Teen: (Ages 10 - 13)
August 4-5, 2009
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

August 6, 2009
Noon to 5:00 p.m. Rehearsal
7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Recital

Teen: (Ages 14 - 18)
August 4-5, 2009
2:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Audition Workshop: (Age 18 and older)

A limited number of scholarships are available. All registrations must be received by Friday July 17, 2009.

Parental permission is required for participants under 18 years old.

A $5 per night parking fee for the Wharton Center parking ramp is not included with the registration fee. Parents are encouraged to drop off and pick up their child at the southeast corner of the Wharton Center parking ramp.

TAKE IT FROM THE TOP was created by Paul Canaan and Laura Bell Bundy. Workshops are taught by Paul Canaan and a talented team of Broadway professionals from New York City, with connections to such shows as Legally Blonde: The Musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Miss Saigon, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Las Cage Aux Folles and many more high-profile productions.
